The creepypasta :
I regret doing what I did today. A monster has been born into this world, from playing an unreleased game. Lord, please save me. My name is Christoper, a 15-year-old Sonic fanboy who loves the games a lot.
But enough talk, let me tell you the story of this haunted compilation…
I was at a thrift store, walking through all the PC games until one caught my eye.
A special edition Sonic compilation featuring the four classics (3 if you don’t count S3&K like it isn’t its own game), and one unreleased one! What a big deal, but no. You’ll see its true form later.
So, me being excited, I rushed to the cash register with the compilation in hand, paid for it, and went home. I made a BIG mistake.
After getting home, I went upstairs, popped the CD in, and started playing.
I started up the first Sonic game, and my first game as a kid. It shouted the SEGA! Chant at me like usual, and displayed the Sonic Team Presents screen as always, and I hit start at the title screen.
Green Hill Zone started like always. I remembered the classic tune that plagued the Sonic series whenever Green Hill appears in the games. Anyways, I went through Act 1 as a hedgehog would, but when I finished Act 1, things became wrong.
And I mean really wrong. When the title card came up, the circle looked damaged, and the title said “HILL” with no “ZONE” or “ACT” intact.
When I started playing, I discovered that my lives were suddenly taken from me, and the timer said 6:66, always, which you can never see in any regular Sonic game.
The background and foreground were blurred, the music was just freaking me out and making me go insane, and Sonic had no eyes. “What happened here?” I spoke. I kept running and running until something finally happened.
Sonic stubbed his toe into a flower spike, along with a digitized scream, but his damage sprite looked different like he was on drugs. Then, suddenly, the game froze for a few seconds, loading a new level, or shall I say cutscene.
"Hahaha"
"I won"
In this cutscene, there was no HUD, and the level is just Hill’s revealed form, flipped sideways. The creature indeed won, and poor Sonic is now a psychopath, and now I’m worried about what’s gonna happen in S2, S3&K, and that mystery unreleased game…
And after the creature said his last line, the game closed with an error.
"There's no hope There's no hope There's no hope There's no hope There's no hope"
What does that mean…? Whatever it is, I rebooted the compilation to find Sonic 1 has been locked, and the menu is now rusty. Curiosity got the best of me, as I clicked Sonic 2.
When it started, everything was normal, that is when I got to the title screen. Aside from realizing the compilation was gonna be published in 1995, Sonic looked off. He had a psychopath’s grin, lost teeth included, and half of his finger flew off, but everything seemed fine.
I pressed 1 Player, and I was met with Palace Zone. The title card did not look like anything I have ever seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I thought it off as a placeholder, and went on to play the wankingly-named “Palace Zone”.
I was playing as Tails, in what appeared to be… Hidden Palace Zone? I thought I’d never see that cut level’s chunks be used here, but here we are, going through this nightmare. There was no HUD and the music seemed to be from that Bugs Bunny game no one remembers. I, again, shook the song as a placeholder and went on.
As I was walking, I saw stuff that was somehow marked with my spotlight. I went inside those, somehow. Then I heard a laugh. That fucking Kefka laugh, from Final Fantasy VI on Super Nintendo. I rushed inside one of them, and to my surprise, HE was hunting me down. I rushed inside one of those spots QUICKLY.
But he was smarter. He got me by peeking inside. “YOU FUCKING CHEATER!!!”, I shouted at the monitor.
Then, I heard the screams of a kid, as Tails got mutated to death. At least it was censored, so I didn’t vomit. The blood was unrealistic and poorly drawn too, by the way. Then, another error popped up on the screen.
"I'll love your screams when you die, Christopher."
How did the game know my name? Besides that, I restarted the game, and the menu was now vomit-inducing. Human guts were everywhere, and Tails’ dead body was there over Sonic 2. I barfed badly in the toilet and went to play Sonic 3 and Knuckles since curiosity took me again.
